Nagaland University recently hosted a precursor event to the National Space Science Symposium 2026. The event was conducted in collaboration with the Physical Society of Nagaland (PSN) and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The aim was to promote space science and technology among students and researchers in the region.

The precursor event included a series of lectures facilitated by eminent scientists from ISRO. The lectures covered a wide range of topics, including the history and evolution of Indian space technology, current space missions, and future prospects. These discussions were designed to spark interest in space science and inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers in Nagaland.

In addition to the lectures, the event also featured an interactive session with students. This allowed them to engage with the scientists, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of space science.

Nagaland University’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Pardeshi Lal, delivered the inaugural address, highlighting the importance of space science and technology in today’s world. He emphasized the need for students and researchers to have a sound understanding of the subject, as it has a significant impact on various aspects of life, such as communication, defense, and weather forecasting.

The University’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. R.C. Gupta, also spoke at the event. He expressed his appreciation for ISRO’s efforts in promoting space science and technology. He also acknowledged the role of the Physical Society of Nagaland in organizing the event and fostering a culture of scientific research in the region.

The National Space Science Symposium, which will be held in 2026, is a significant event in India’s space science calendar. It brings together scientists, researchers, and students from across the country to discuss the latest developments in space science and technology.

This precursor event at Nagaland University is part of a broader initiative to spread awareness about space science and inspire young minds to pursue careers in this field. It also reflects the commitment of the University, the Physical Society of Nagaland, and ISRO to promote scientific literacy and research in the region.

The event represents a significant milestone for Nagaland University, as it seeks to position itself as a hub for scientific research and education in Northeast India. It also underscores the importance of collaboration between academic institutions and research organizations like ISRO in promoting science and technology education.
