In a Remarkable 4-Hour Window, SpaceX Successfully Launches Two Rockets!

On March 30, SpaceX successfully launched two rockets from Florida within a span of five hours, further demonstrating the company’s ability to conduct multiple launches in a single day. The first of these launches took place at 5:52 p.m. EDT and involved a Falcon 9 rocket, which carried the Eutelsat 36D telecommunications satellite into space from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center (KSC). The second launch occurred at 9:30 p.m. EDT, during which another Falcon 9 rocket deployed 23 of SpaceX’s Starlink broadband satellites from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, located adjacent to KSC.

There was also a plan for a third launch on the same day, which was supposed to be another Starlink mission from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. However, this mission had to be postponed due to unfavorable weather conditions.

Both Falcon 9 first stages that were launched returned to Earth as planned, landing on SpaceX droneships at sea approximately 8.5 minutes after liftoff. This marked the 12th liftoff and landing for the Eutelsat 36D Falcon 9 and the 18th for the Starlink booster.

Once operational, the Eutelsat 36D satellite will provide TV broadcasting services to customers across Europe, Russia, and Africa. The 23 Starlink satellites, on the other hand, were deployed into low Earth orbit and will join more than 5,600 operational broadband satellites already in space.

SpaceX has previously demonstrated its capacity to handle multi-launch days. For instance, in the previous month, the company launched a batch of Starlink satellites, the classified USSF-124 mission for the U.S. Space Force, and the IM-1 private moon-landing mission, all within less than 24 hours.

The two successful launches on March 30 marked the 30th and 31st orbital launches of the year for SpaceX. As part of its ambitious plans for the year, the company aims to conduct a total of 144 orbital missions.
