Airbus Ends Decade-Long Partnership with Sodali & Co.

Airbus, the European multinational aerospace corporation, has ended its decade-long relationship with Sodali, its financial public relations agency. Sodali is a global consultancy firm that specializes in corporate governance, shareholder services, and financial communications. The firm has been providing its services to Airbus since 2011.

The decision to part ways with Sodali comes amidst Airbus’ strategic move to reshuffle its PR and communications team. The aerospace giant has also recently appointed a new head of media relations, Julie Kitcher, who was formerly the Executive Vice President of Communications and Corporate Affairs. Kitcher’s new role includes overseeing Airbus’ global media relations activities and leading the company’s team of spokespersons across all divisions and regions.

Despite the split with Sodali, Airbus remains in close cooperation with Brunswick for financial PR and with Edelman for corporate PR. Brunswick is a strategic advisory firm focused on critical issues, while Edelman is a global communications firm that partners with businesses and organizations to evolve, promote, and protect their brands and reputations.

Airbus, a pioneer in aeronautics, space, and related services, has always maintained a robust and strategic approach towards public relations and communications. The company understands the significance of effective communication in building and maintaining its global reputation, particularly in a highly competitive and rapidly evolving aerospace industry. Therefore, its decision to end the decade-long relationship with Sodali could be seen as a part of its ongoing strategy to adapt to the changing dynamics of the industry and to bolster its communications team.

While the separation could be seen as a significant change, it is not uncommon for businesses, especially those operating on a global scale, to reassess and realign their partnerships and strategies periodically. Such moves are often aimed at strengthening the business’s core competencies, improving efficiencies, and staying ahead in a competitive market.

It is also worth noting that Airbus’ decision comes at a time when the aerospace industry is gradually recovering from the devastating impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic led to a dramatic decrease in air travel, affecting the revenues of aerospace corporations across the world. As the industry tries to navigate through this challenging phase, companies like Airbus are likely focusing on optimizing their strategies, including their PR and communications, to ensure resilience and growth in the post-pandemic era.

In summary, Airbus’ decision to part ways with Sodali after ten years marks a significant shift in the company’s PR and communications strategy. This move, accompanied by the reshuffling of its media relations team, signals Airbus’ intent to adapt and evolve to meet the changing needs of the global aerospace industry.
